La deliziosa cittadina di Beacon, di cui vi ho già parlato qualche settimana fa e dove trascorro parecchio tempo durante il mio soggiorno invernale nell’Upstate NY, è piena zeppa di posticini graziosi dove mangiare o sorseggiare un buon caffè ed oggi vi porto a conoscere i miei preferiti.
– Brother’s Trattoria, è una piccola trattoria sofisticata dove assaggiare una buona cucina italiana e sorseggiare un bicchiere di vino in un’atmosfera romantica.
Si trova proprio sulla Main Street e l’atmosfera e l’arredamento mi ricordano un po’ la mia amata Toscana, così quando veniamo a mangiare qui è un po’ come tornare per qualche ora nella mia bella campagna!

– The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls, è un albergo ristorante molto particolare ospitato in una storica fabbrica di tessuti, restaurata mantenendo la sua struttura circolare originaria. Questo edificio così bello e singolare sorge proprio nel cuore della cittadina di Beacon tra la Main Street e la cascata del torrente Fishkill.
Gli interni sono decorati con eleganza e gusto contemporaneo e c’è una bellissima terrazza affacciata sulla cascata, perfetta per una cena casual nella bella stagione. La lounge è uno dei miei posti preferiti per un aperitivo, specialmente in Inverno quando l’atmosfera è resa più calda ed accogliente dal bel camino acceso.
La Roundhouse è considerata uno dei posti più chic e alla moda della zona ed è molto ambita per eventi speciali e matrimoni.
– Adorando la cucina etnica mi piace sperimentare spesso dei ristoranti esotici e a Beacon ci sono due indirizzi che amo molto: il Dim Sum GoGo è un ristorantino cantonese senza pretese ma accogliente, dove si possono mangiare dei Dim Sum vegetariani o a base di pesce davvero buonissimi.
Se vi piace il curry invece non dovete perdervi per niente al mondo una cena da Sukhothai, famoso per i suoi cinque diversi tipi di Curry, uno più buono dell’altro!
– Uno dei posti migliori in città per un buon sorbetto fatto alla vecchia maniera o un gelato artigianale con i fiocchi è Zora Dora’s, un minuscolo locale che sorge sulla Main Street.
Purtroppo questa deliziosa gelateria è aperta solo nella bella stagione e io riesco a godermela pochissimo perché con i primi caldi io, mio marito e Daisy torniamo in Italia.
Il proprietario di Zora Dora’s è un ragazzo molto simpatico e i suoi gelati sono fatti solo con latte locale e frutta di stagione: se capitate da queste parti non perdetevi per niente al mondo il sorbetto al mango che è una vera delizia!
– Per le tipiche colazioni americane e i brunch del week end vi consiglio il Beacon Falls Cafe proprio di fronte al centro culturale Howland.
– Uno dei miei posti preferiti per sorseggiare un buon caffè appena fatto è invece il Bank Square Coffee House dall’atmosfera accogliente e un po’ gipsy, con i comodi divani e i tavolini bassi.
Le loro miscele di caffè sono buonissime e gli enormi e deliziosi cappuccini imperdibili, per non parlare delle donuts fresche e dei dolcetti homemade a base di quinoa!
Anche gli smoothies fatti con frutta e verdure fresche sono assolutamente da provare e mi rammarico sempre di non abitare abbastanza vicino da poter fare colazione qui ogni giorno!
The lovely city of Beacon, where I spend a lot of time during my winter stay in Upstate NY, is also known for good restaurants and little cafe.
– If you want to eat authentic Italian food or looking for a romantic dinner with a good bottle of wine, I suggest to stop at Brother’s Trattoria, which is serving the unique cousin of Italy.
This cute place is located on the Main Street with a cozy setting that remind me of Tuscany.
The food is really good and the atmosphere is charming: I feel like I am back home in a sophisticated country house trattoria in the hills of Tuscany!
– The Roundhouse at Beacon Falls is an unique hotel-lounge-restaurant set in a historic textile factory, recently restored and open in 2012. This beautiful circular industrial building is located in the hearth of Beacon on the Main Street and by the Fishkill Creek. The interiors are very well decorated with a sleek and elegant taste.
A more casual outdoor space opens in springtime season on a terrace overlooking the waterfalls, which is perfect for an outdoor dining.
I personally like this place very much and it’s really nice to stop at the “lounge” for a drink or a special occasion during the winter evenings, sitting by the cozy fireplace.
The Roundhouse is considered a fancy and chic hotel complex and is perfect for planning weddings or special events.
– One of my favorite place to go for Chinese cousine is Dim Sum GoGo. No fancy restaurant but you can eat an authentic Cantonese cousine. Try the vegetarian Dim Sum which I highly recommended it.
– Sukhothai is a nice and renovated restaurant where you can experience the authentic Thai cousine. The bricks walls inside the restaurant are part of the original building. They have a large menu and five different kind of curry. I definitely recommend it!
– Because I love ice cream, one of the best place ever for a good home made ice cream and sorbets in this area is Zora Dora’s, a micro store on the Main Street of Beacon. You must stop at this little place: the owner is very friendly and beside different flavors you must try the “mango sorbet” which is very delicious, made with 100% fresh mango and farm milk. It’s one of my favorites!
– Beacon Falls Cafe is located on Main Street across the Howland Cultural Center. This American Bistro is a cozy place and lovely to come here for a Saturday breakfast or for a Sunday brunch.
– If you are looking for a smell of freshly brewed coffee and a friendly atmosphere while you are tapping away on a laptop, definitely must go to The Bank Square Coffee House. It’s an interesting cafe, meeting point for young and “less young” people, cool with comfortable sofas and low tables.
Many ongoing events during the spring summer on the outdoor patio: live concerts, bbq, fresh donuts in the morning and many others. They have a finest quality of roasted coffee and different blends. When I am in town usually stop here for a good espresso which is made with a unique blend or a huge cup of their delicious cappuccino. You must try also their 100% fruit smoothies and the homemade quinoa cookies. So yummy and too bad that I don’t live close enough!
